Prerna, a smart and good-looking sales girl, working in a Mall at a popular brand’s retail showroom. She comes from a middle-class family and is working in the showroom for 2 years along with two other male staff.
Her main responsibility is to convince the customers and provide them the clothes they want duly packed neatly. There is an unwritten order given to her by the company that she must win the customer’s hearts to make them accept the products and bill it precisely by ensuring that they should not miss to visit the shop again.
It looked like a quiet and a very comfortable job for all of them and specially for Prerna. Her colleagues used to help her a step further whenever she needs an extra support to persuade certain typical customers.
Prerna opted to work there mainly to make herself capable to pay her tuition fees for completing her studies in entrepreneurship management a distance education degree course. Though her father is capable and willing, she doesn’t like or want him to pay the fees.
Most of her Customers are mainly youth, coming from upper middle class and high-class families. Occasionally there used be minor altercations when some racy costumers throw tantrums or behave inappropriately with the staff, by leaving no chances to insult for not being able to help them find the right material they require or is looking for.
Once or twice she had to go through bitter experiences for having been called by filthy names. She still remembers that once, when a plump lady, trying out a T shirt to project her bulky limbs and organs Prerna intercepted and told her to go for a bigger size. Eventually this made the lady to take it sarcastically, feeling that Prerna was mocking of her chubby personage, got wild and made a walk out by pouring curses left and right.
To mention one more incident, once it happened when a couple thought Prerna didn't give them proper attention during their search for a suitable apparel for the lady to celebrate her birthday. However, Prerna, despite of her acute abdominal pain due to dysmenorrhea, tried her level best to please the lady with different raiment and frocks.
The lady was reluctant to try out any of the garment that Prerna placed before them. Her husband got annoyed because even after spending hours at the shop he could not buy a single cloth sensibly for his lady.
While leaving the shop desperately empty handed, the man, instead of blaming his wife, did hold Prerna responsible for it, and threw abusive gestures on her, commenting about her service as the least expected and an insult to all privileged customers.
However, all those incidents didn’t shake her by any means, as she has got enough such unnerving experiences from different corners. She used to make and control her mind settle down cool, and most of the times she used to attain positive provocations to handle the situations amicably and successfully.
She never felt bad or ever did mind, in dealing with such people, under any circumstances except the one, which we are going to pen now, really shook her literally and terribly.
It was on a Saturday morning rather a rainy day, when her shop just opened around 10.30 well before noon. Whereas it is to mention that all shops in the Mall used to open around 11 am only, but Prerna reaches the shop regularly around 30 minutes before the other shops open, just to convince her travel time and to tune up her bus timings from her home.
On that day,as usual she was performing the regular cleaning and morning rituals in front of the deity that kept in a small temple like container on the wall, exactly above the cash counter, she felt that her instinct was warning her about something bad to take place on that day. However, she didn't give much attention to that but kept herself busy in getting ready the shop to greet the customers, all alone in the shop.
