I'm Simran, a 28-year-old Indian girl, and he, an executive gentleman, Raj. We met online. When I first saw his profile picture, I knew instantly that he was in his late twenties or early thirties.
There was a match of shake (it was on an app that not many people use) and he messaged me a "Hi!". For some reason, I was sort of scared to reply. So, I just let it be. About half an hour passed by and he messaged again. And I ignored him again.
5 months passed by and he messaged a "Hi!" once in every 4–5 days! I was amazed by his consistency and perseverance and wondered why he wasn't letting go.
Sometimes he also messaged "Hey, can we talk"
I read all his messages, still, I never replied. I thought he would stop messaging if he didn't receive any replies (that app wouldn't even show the other person's online or offline status or mark a message as 'read'). But the more I ignored him, the more messages he sent.
One day, fairly five months later, I replied with a mere "Hi" and went to sleep. The next morning, I found a couple of messages from him and I smiled. That day we chatted for a few minutes. The chat was somewhat like this (I don't remember accurately but this is what took place):
Me: Hey! Can I ask you something?
He: Yes, anything.
Me: Are you married? You seem to be. So, I asked
He: Yes, I am.
Me: So, do you have kids?
He: Yes, I do. I have a daughter. She's 2 years old.
Me: Okay. Nice. One more question. How old are you?
He: Ha-ha. I'm 30.
